The Samuel B. Hanser Visionary Grant is a $25,000 grant given to honor the life of Samuel B. Hanser. The grant seeks to support the development of innovative research that makes a significant contribution to our understanding of the effects and mechanisms of contemplative practices on body, mind, and spirit.
This grant, funded by the Samuel B. Hanser Memorial Trust endowment, continues Sam’s legacy by supporting innovative research on contemplative practices for creating a more peaceful world. Recent Hanser grantees have studied topics such as gratitude interventions, compassion training in high schoolers, and mitigating compassion fatigue in mental health providers in conflict zones. The Mind & Life Institute is grateful to play a role in honoring Sam’s curiosity, compassion, and determination.
