Compassion, Interconnection, and Transformation

Compassion, Interconnection, and Transformation

This Dialogue presents two distinct conversations between key thought leaders and the Dalai Lama. Our guest presenters are Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela, a clinical psychologist and social scientist and Research Chair in Historical Trauma and Transformation at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa, and David Sloan Wilson, President of Evolution Institute and State University New York Distinguished Professor of Biology and Anthropology at Binghamton University.

David points to a sea change that has occurred in evolutionary science toward a focus on altruism and prosociality while Pumla describes the African philosophy of ubuntu that laid the groundwork for healing in the aftermath of apartheid in South Africa. Both conversations offer valuable insights and steps each of us can take to advance the Dalai Lama’s call to create an “ethics for the whole world.”
