1. Is there a sample budget or compensation range you can share?

At this stage, we aren’t providing a set budget range, as budget is one of the factors we’ll consider in the overall evaluation process. We recognize this can feel like shooting in the dark, but we hope it also gives space for creative approaches to how this work could be structured. Please feel free to propose a model that makes sense to you — whether that’s hourly, flat fee per episode, or seasonal — and we’ll review all proposals with an eye toward both value and fit.

  1. Can I apply as a cohost team?

Absolutely, we recognize that, as much of Contemplative Research is interdisciplinary, that a cohost team is a valid approach.

  1. What is the selection process?

We’ve established a structured, multi-stage  process in our search for the next Podcast Host:

Phase 1: Initial Screening –  All proposals will be reviewed using consistent criteria

Phase 2: Staff Interviews –  Candidates who advance will participate in two separate interviews with different staff groups to ensure diverse perspectives in our evaluation.

Phase 3: Final Interview  – The final stage includes an interview with the president of Mind & Life.

This approach ensures every candidate receives equal consideration and that our selection is based on qualifications, experience, and fit for the role.

Given the exceptional talent in our community, we anticipate this will be a highly competitive process.

You can find all the details about how to submit a proposal here on our website.

  1. Can you review my proposal before I submit it?

To ensure that each candidate receives equal consideration, we are unable to give feedback on proposals before they are submitted

  1. Can I meet with someone at Mind & Life  to discuss my proposal or ask questions?

While we would love to chat with everyone individually, to ensure that each candidate receives equal consideration and to keep things fair for all candidates, we need to stick to our structured process described above in Question 3. This way, everyone gets the same information and opportunity to shine through their application.

If you have questions that are not addressed in the call for consultants, or the FAQ’s, please email your question to research@mindandlife.org with the subject line “PODCAST HOST – follow up question” and we will reply as soon as possible. Note that due to the incredibly enthusiastic response from our community to this position, we may take a day or two to reply.

  1. Does Mind & Life have a preference for whether I propose my own production team/editor or use the in-house team at Mind & Life?

Mind & Life does not have a preference. If you choose to work with Mind & Life for editing and production, just note that in your proposal.

  1. Does Mind & Life provide any administrative support with guest bookings, calendar, guest communications etc?

No. Host is responsible for administration of the podcast.

  1. Does Mind & Life provide marketing for the podcast?

Yes, Mind & Life will continue to provide marketing for the podcast.

  1. The Scope of work overview states “Themes for the podcast episodes will be determined in collaboration with Mind & Life Institute leadership, with an emphasis on the new strategic vision of the Mind & Life Institute”. What is the new strategic vision for Mind & Life?
