Ready for some straight talk about racial bias and mindfulness? Many who examine the growth of the field of contemplative practice see it as coming only from straight, middle-class whites and corporate America. How might we work to shift that perception and to broaden the reach of our work? What practices can assist us in deepening our understanding of these criticisms and minimizing structural “mindful bypassing?” How might attending to these concerns deepen the benefits of Mind and Life in the world?
The hour long chat will also include a chance to practice meditation together and to ask Professor McGee questions about her experience on the issue of racial bias, the law, immigration and public policy.
